Chamber East: News Highlights

Chamber East Chamber of Commerce is planning a 10 day trip to China in March of 2009. We picked spring because it’s the prettiest time of year in China and usually a more expensive time to travel to China. However, this trip will cost less then $2,000.00 including round trip air fare – 5 star hotels, food and everything inclusive. We have scheduled an orientation meeting for Tuesday, May 6, 2008 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Location of the meeting will be announced on our Web site www.ChamberEast.com/ChamberEast/ChinaTrip2009.htm

We invite anyone from our communities to join us for this amazing trip – you do not need to be a member of Chamber East to enjoy this fabulous exotic trip. Remember to include family and friends when you plan on joining us in China next March. Please come to the orientation prepared with any questions you may have and remember to invite your family and friends. We’ve scheduled the meeting for 2 hours so that all questions can be answered thoroughly.

Image: Midvale Community Calendar & Guide 2008 - Chamber East Chamber of Commerce 801 561-3880 www.ChamberEast.com

The new Midvale Community Calendar & Guide 2008 was delivered on Friday and Saturday January 11 & 12, 2008. The Calendar was delivered via the Valley Journals (www.ValleyJournals.com) and it reached each and every household and business within the Midvale area zip code. This delivery mechanism offers a great opportunity for local businesses to target Midvale residents in order to advertise to the whole community at once.

- The Calendar includes useful information such as maps of the Midvale area, information about arts and culture, parks and recreation, retail and business, including dining and lodging. It also includes special offers from members of the business community who take pride in providing excellence in quality goods and services. Every Midvale business who belongs to Chamber East gets a reduced rate on advertising in the Calendar. Please contact Bryan Thatcher of Posted Publishing Inc. at (801) 268-0485 for more details about how you can participate in next years guide.

We invite all businesses, service organizations, charities, and government officials to get involved with this project and help to make Midvale an even more successful business community.

*** Call us if you need an extra copy (801) 561-3880. Quantities are limited and will be available at Midvale City Hall or at one of the Chamber East's offices after January 29, 2008.

- We are looking for a mechanism to offer something similar to Community Calendar & Guide to the other cities we serve.

NO TO MANDATES in Healthcare - Seminar
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Sugar House Sprague Library
Address: 1100 East 2110 South, Sugar House, Utah
The Utah Legislative Task Force on Healthcare is rumored to be ready to use mandates to force businesses to purchase healthcare insurance. Forcing business owners to purchase health insurance will not help to make healthcare affordable. If businesses cannot afford healthcare now, mandating health insurance does not improve the situation.
Just saying NO TO MANDATES is not enough. We need to offer an alternative solution in place of mandates. The solution must increase access to good healthcare and offer affordable costs.
Vest Pocket Business Coalition, Chamber East Chamber of Commerce and the Humanists of Utah are sponsoring this Seminar. We hope you will join us to discuss this important topic which will certainly impact all businesses throughout Utah.
